Essential Oils For An Earache - A Home Remedy

Essential oils for an earache, using wise with directions and how to.
Essential oils for an earache, using wise with directions and how to.

Essentials oils for an earache have been used for many years. It always seems like either myself or my children will get an earache in the middle of the night. Doesn't it feel that way to you? Finding some relief and support for an earache is sometimes necessary to save you an emergency room visit in the middle of the night. My first thought is to use essential oils for earaches. A visit to your doctor is always wise in the morning, especially if you are still in pain.

These are the ingredients I use to help find relief of an earache:

  1. 1 5ml roller bottle.
  2. Fractionated coconut oil.
  3. 5-6 drops Melaleuca or Tea Tree Essential Oils (You can always add a drop of Frankincense and/or helichrysum essential oils also).

When fighting an earache, I like to make a roller bottle so I can easily apply the essential oils where I would like it, and reapply often as needed. To do this, take a 5ml roller bottle (you can use a 10ml roller bottle too, just go ahead and double the ingredients). Put 5-6 drops of Melaleuca essential oil into the bottom of a clean (I like to boil or wash in the dishwasher my bottles before use) roller bottle, then top it off with fractionated coconut oil. Put your roller ball in and give it a little shake to disperse the essential oil throughout your bottle.

I want to strongly point out that you NEVER, EVER put essential oils directly in or on your mucous membranes (inside the nose, ear canal, eyes, contacts, or any sensitive skin). I've seen many blogs suggesting that you drop the essential oils into the ear canal. Please do not do this.

Directions for Using the Rollerball Recipe of Essential Oils for an Earache

With the roller bottle, roll it over the bony part behind your ear and rub it in. I also like to rub the blend kind of around the ear and down the jaw bone slightly. Repeat every hour.

There are cotton ball methods out there where you can stick it in your ear, I would strongly advise having a doctor make sure your eardrum is ok before following any of those methods and check with him before proceeding with putting a cotton ball in your ear. Please remember you don't want any essential oils to ever go down your ear canal. Doing so can be very painful and cause even more problems. I don't recommend that method for those reasons. Try using the blend around your ear and down your jawline first. Hopefully that can help you until you can visit the doctor.

When in doubt, always see the doctor. Essential oils for an earache are a great starting point and helping get relief, but do please keep in mind that sometimes a visit to the doctor is prudent.
